Design on a Dime started in Spain in 2001 under the name MasterMatch Interior. This was in a time that money wasn’t an issue, especially not in the South of Spain. When it came to decorating houses, there basically wasn’t a budget. This obviously made it really easy because you can pretty much buy anything – nice for a designer, but also too easy.
In Chicago, in 2007, we started our own company in Home and Lifestyle products where we delivered products to wholesale businesses all over the United States. With this we helped a lot of shops and people to create a perfect and inspiring interior.
During this time, when the first signs of the recession started to appear, we started to focus on interior decorating and Home Makeovers, based on the Design on a Dime principle. This meant that we re-designed spaces, using accessories, decoration, and furniture that was already in the space, and only purchased new products where it was truly necessary.
In 2012 we further expanded the Design on a Dime trend to the Netherlands.
Now that the recession is behind us we’ve noticed that people are looking for the total package in the “More” price class again. It’s great that we fit into that segment again by offering plans, designs, purchasing, and by carrying out the plan from beginning to end.
